I have mentioned before that I love Vibram FiveFingers. I also mentioned – on October 27th 2009 – that I was waiting for my second pair. They finally arrived – woot! But they were not the color (vivid blue) that I ordered – unwoot. But they were a nice slate blue, bright green combo – woot!
The Sprint is much more comfortable than the Classic. No rubbing on my heel. It really feels like bare feet and my toes are happy, happy, happy!
Today I decided to introduce Alan and Noodles. On the positive side, they didn’t kill each other However, Alan was a grump-weasel and Noodles pretended not to notice him! I would have taken a picture, but I thought I should be ready to break up a fight just in case. I think I can call them acquaintances now, but not friends.
When I am out and about with Alan, I make many new friends! He is quite the magnet. Usually, when I walk into town, I only speak to the guy in Starbucks to order my coffee and morning bun and that’s it. With Alan, I get to chat with at least 6 new people. There doesn’t seem to be a common thread connecting them apart from the fact that they think Alan is cute. He is Alan’s fan club is split evenly between men and women which surprised me. I have actually made some useful business connections along the way – the Chihuahua mafia
I went to see Eddie Izzard last night at the Oracle Coliseum. His style is unique, using history as a framework for his rambling thoughts on odd stuff. He gets distracted from his framework quite often, and so I was waiting for him to say …
I came across a fabulous thing while shopping recently – a solar-powered Rainbow Maker with colorful gears. Fear not, I don’t think crystals have special powers I confess I was attracted by the colorful gears. Hey, one of them is orange!
Alan is settling in A few more days and he can meet Noodles and BB. Yey!
I’ve never had a dog before, so this is a new learning experience for me. Alan has perked up a lot and so I have to keep an eye on him – it is not clear if he is house trained!
I can’t help feeling that Blinky sounds like he was named by a 5 year old. In my book, that’s not good. What do you think?
Please add new names to the comments section and I will add them to the poll
Lisa.
PS That is not me holding him in the pic!
UPDATE: 17JAN10 The votes are in! There were only 3 As Alan has 3 votes, you might think that Blinky is now Alan, but no. I was inspired this afternoon by his hot, bald tummy. Jelly Belly popped into my head. Please welcome Jelly Belly!
SECOND UPDATE: 18JAN10 I blinked. The votes win. Please welcome Alan! The name is inspired by this fabulous video
I have been looking at PetFinder a lot recently. There have been so many small dogs abandoned in California that shelters have been overflowing – quite a few have been shipped off to New York. Paris Hilton has a lot to answer for.
I was following a car on the freeway this morning when I noticed the license plate. I almost had a moment. Not good when you are driving at 65 on a busy freeway!
It must be in the air because I had a bit of a moment earlier in the week. We’ve all seen the poor guy dressed in an inexplicable costume, waving a sign to advertise a sale or rentals. On Tuesday I saw a dancing rabbit waving a sign that said “Lettuce” – a local sandwich shop. The rabbit wasn’t swaying but shaking his behind and really getting down to boogie! I failed to get any video
I have mentioned before my aversion to trees that smell of bodily functions. Since I wrote that post, I have noticed female ginkgo trees all over the place. There are a lot in Palo Alto, and sadly, I seem to walk past them all the time. I had hoped there would be less fruit in the winter. There is less, but it smells twice as bad.
