Anywho, I digress …

Loosely based on what might have happened. Or not.

More than a test, not quite a donation

Danger!

I am a sensitive flower.  A few months ago, while sitting in the back garden, my thigh inexplicably swelled up sending me hobbling off to the pharmacy for some Benadryl.  In fact, it was so spectacular – think chicken leg – that I now carry two epipens.  Apparently one is not enough.  These things are HUGE. HUGE.  So HUGE, that I often don’t carry them.  Yeah, that’s going to work.

Anywho, I digress …

As part of the epipen/Benadryl/steroid experience, I went to see an allergy doctor.  Long story short, she signed me up for some blood tests.  And when I say some, I mean a lot.  In order to complete the tests, they needed 13 tubes of blood.  13!

I am neither brave or good with blood/needles.  I had to lay down.

I tried to get over my fears years ago by donating blood … until they wrote to me and asked me not to come anymore.  I faint.  First time I donated blood, I fainted after 0.5 bag.  Second time, as I got off the bed.  Third time, sitting drinking tea.  I was denied a fourth try.  Hey, I was improving!!  Now I am just not allowed to give blood – being British can be a disadvantage.

13 tubes is almost a donation!  Oooooo.  Living on the edge 😉

Lisa.
