Lucky surprise

I got into a water cooler discussion about bugs yesterday. There was general agreement that, typically, an encounter with a bug is not such a great thing. They are great in the rain forest – leaf cutter ants, very cool – but not so much up close and personal – cockroaches in your bed, not cool.
Anywho, I digress …
Quite a while ago, I was on a road trip to Scotland when a surprising thing happened. We had just left Loch Ness, where Nessie was nowhere to be seen, and were driving to our next stop when I noticed something out the corner of my eye. I glanced down.
Imagine my surprise when I saw an enormous bee crawling up my shirt. In fact, I was so surprised, that I tried to jump out of the car. Really. I had the door open and I was ready to jump.
Luckily, I had my seat belt on and so my efforts were thwarted. Very lucky in fact as we were doing about 70 mph. Extremely lucky that I wasn’t driving.
I was rebuked for overreacting. Overreacting? There was a bee on my shirt! Not a fan.
Hooray for seatbelts.
Lisa.
