Pick three
Posted by episode81 on May 17, 2009
I came across this website this morning while mindlessly surfing – is there any other kind? The basic premise is that you pick three local businesses and plan on visiting them once a month to spend $50. Sounds like a great idea to support the local economy. So I decided to give it a go. First step, pick three local businesses. Sounds easy. Or so I thought.
When I am out and about, I like a non-fat latte … from Starbucks. If I am traveling, I try and pick up a Starbucks mug as a memento of my trip. I like them because they hold about a pint of tea. I like tea. A lot. I know, I know. Why don’t I get tea when I am out then?
I don’t drink tea when I am out because I don’t like the tea on offer (enough said), but I need caffeine. I don’t like sweet fizzy drinks, so I drink coffee. I have quite a few mugs now. You can get city, state and country mugs. Friends also pick them up for me on their travels, so I have a few from places I have never visited – New York, Beijing, Denver.
Anywho, I digress …
Coffee? Starbucks – FAIL. Not independent.
Clothes? Banana Republic – FAIL. Ann Taylor – FAIL.
Dinner out? Mike’s Cafe – Score! Tamarine – Score! Evvia – Score!
And there you have it. I need to eat out more 😉
Lisa.
